Gloria Whetstone Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - open to a male or female student age 13 - 21 with intermediate-advanced ballet technique and artistic passion * funding - To honor Gloria Whetstone, a lifetime performer and dance educator, and 2003 Honors Awardee of the Mary Bywaters Award For Lifetime Achievement to Dance. Gloria was the Artistic Director of the Shreveport Civic Ballet, the Shreveport Civic Opera and the Assistant choreographer for the Dallas Ballet Theatre.

Joyce Seaborne Bader Scholarship – * amount - $675 (tuition waiver) * purpose - attend Texas Ballet Theatre Workshop/Intensive in Dallas, TX – 2 classes daily summer 2015 * eligibility - any dance student who shows potential for all forms of dance, but especially ballet – * preference given to advanced ballet students under age 18 * funding - Lyndette Bader Galen, in memory of her mother, Joyce Seaborne Bader, and Texas Ballet Theatre
Kittie LaPointe Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - open to a male or female student age 13 - 21 with intermediate-advanced ballet technique and artistic passion * funding - Janice LaPointe Crump, in memory of her mother, Kittie LaPointe Peterson. She danced with Chicago Lyric Opera Ballet and in toured in vaudeville, Teacher/Choreographer of LaPointe’s School of Dance in Chicago

South Dallas Dance Festival Scholarship – * amount - $900 * purpose - attend any dance dance studio/institution during summer 2015 - perform as Guest Artist with South Dallas Dance Festival in November - eligibility - any black dance student ages 13 - 21 - Scholarship will be awarded in 2 parts: $600 (cash) in May and $300 (cash) in November after SDDF performance * funding - Beckles Dancing Company, Loris Anthony Beckles, Artistic Director
Suffolk Award – * 5 pairs of Suffolk Pointe Shoes valued at $500. * eligibility - any ballet student age 13 - 21 - must wear Suffolk pointe shoes * funding Spotlight Dancewear.
Tom Adams Scholarship – * amount - $4,000 tuition, room and board plus up to $500 for transportation *purpose - attend any summer intensive at a nationally recognized summer program at least 100 miles from home studio for a minimum of 4 weeks such as American Dance Festival, Julliard, Ailey, ABT, PNB, San Francisco Ballet, SAB, Jacob's Pillow, etc. * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - open to students ages 16 - 21 * funding - Gayle Ziaks Halperin & Tom Adams

Modern Scholarships

Calloway & Jerry Bywaters Cochran Student Scholarship
– * amount - $1,000 (cash) * purpose - to assist a modern dancer to study at (1) American Dance Festival, (2) Jacob’s Pillow, (3) Julliard School, (4) Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, (5) Bates College Summer Course or (6) a place of your choosing. (Choreographic experience and ballet are a plus.) * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - any modern dance student 13 - 21 years of age
Charles Andrew Kulp Scholarship – * amount - $1,000 (cash) * purpose - attend further study of modern dance technique or choreography at least 100 miles from home studio * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - any high school sophomore to college freshman who will study at a summer program such as Julliard, Ailey, etc. * funding - anonymous – in loving memory of Charles Andrew Kulp – “It is my hope that this scholarship will help a young dancer recognize part of his/her dream and bring a touch of magic to that life.”
Darryl Sneed Scholarship – *tuition waived (valued at $450) *provides full tuition to Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s summer intensive - includes classes in jazz, ballet, modern and praise dance *dates - June/July 2015 *eligibility - open to students ages 13 - 21 who reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex or students who can commute or who can provide their own housing. No housing included. *funding - Ann Williams in memory of Darryl Sneed, former resident choreographer and Associate Director of DBDT
Fred (Poppy) Ziaks Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $1,000 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer modern dance technique intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from home studio * date - summer 2014 * eligibility - open to students ages 13 - 21 that will study at a summer program such as Julliard, Ailey, etc. * funding - family of Fred (Poppy) Ziaks, in his memory

Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre Scholarships

Amber Strauser Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend a summer program in jazz dance or musical theater at least 100 miles from home studio * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - any dance student age 13 - 21 – preference given to jazz or musical theatre dancers * funding - Amber Strauser
Buster Cooper Jazz Scholarship – * amount - $800 (cash) * purpose - attend a summer program in jazz dance at least 100 miles from home studio * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - any dance student age 13 - 21 – preference given to jazz, lyrical, or musical theater dancers *submit video featuring Broadway Musical Theatre technique in the style of Bob Fosse, Christopher Gattelli, Susan Stroman or Kathleen Marshall. Dallas Summer Musicals Academy of Performing Arts – *amount $800 --(tuition waiver) *Dance! Sing! Act! Perform! * 2014 Summer to learn to be a triple threat. *open to students ages 13 - 19 who live in Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex or can commute or can provide own housing. Denise Gallagher Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend a nationally recognized musical theater summer program such as 
Jacobs Pillow, Broadway Theater Project, NYU, Interlochen, STEPS * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - any musical theater student age 15 - 21 *submit video featuring Broadway Musical Theatre technique in the style of Bob Fosse, Christopher Gattelli, Susan Stroman or Kathleen Marshall. Texie Waterman Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $500 - attend a 2015 summer program in jazz dance/musical theatre at least 100 miles from home studio * eligibility - students age 13 - 21 * submit video featuring Broadway Musical Theatre technique in the style of Bob Fosse, Christopher Gattelli, Susan Stroman or Kathleen Marshall. International Dance Scholarships

Arathi School of Dance Scholarship – * amount - $250 (Tuition) * purpose - attend program in Dallas, TX, to study Bharata Natyam, a discipline of Indian dance, with a guest artist * date - July 2015 – 3 weeks * eligibility - any dance student age 13 - 21 * funding - Arathi School of Dance
ICHF Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any Indian classical dance or another traditional dance discipline workshop/program * date - summer 2015 * eligibilty - any U.S. resident  age 13 - 21 trained primarily in Indian classical dance – preference given to a high school graduate * funding - Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation (“ICHF”)

Teacher Scholarships

Artful Dancewear Teacher Scholarship
– * amount - $500 cash * purpose - attend a 2014 national dance intensive/workshop or continuing education summer course more than 100 miles from teacher’s home studio – application (no video required) to include (1) how and where the scholarship will be used, (2) the teacher’s goals for the next 12 months, and (3) how the experience will be used to enrich his/her students * date - summer 2015 * eligibility - any dance teacher * funding - Artful Dancewear and Kay Dalziel

Choreographer Scholarship

Glenda Brown Choreography Project Choreographers Scholarship
– * amount - $500 (tuition, room & board offset) * purpose - attend Glenda Brown Choreography Project as a choreographer at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO – ballet, modern, and jazz, including performing * date - july 2015 – 2 weeks * eligibility - teachers/artistic directors/student applicants, minimum age 18, emerging or experienced choreographers. GBCP provides opportunity for emerging or experienced choreographers who want to stimulate their creativity. choreographers receive assignment from their mentor, the Director of Choreography, and consult with the Music Director. time is provided for choreographer to prepare and dancers are assigned. after rehearsal period the choreographic studies are performed for the entire workshop. a critique session on the choreography shown each evening is led by Director of Choreography and Musical Director for faculty and fellow-choreographers. at the end of the Project selected dance works are showcased on the final special performance. (this scholarship is also open to Student Applicants, minimum age 18.) * funding - Glenda Brown

Dance Writer Scholarship

Margaret Putnam Scholarship for Dance Writers – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend a dance critic/writing conference or course * date - summer 2015 *eligibility - no age restriction - the applicant should demonstrate a keen interest in dance; dance training is a bonus; dance critic submits three dance articles written in the last two years: two must be dance reviews and the third a background story on a dancer, choreographer,company, dance work or anything else related to dance (it is not required that these be published writings but they may not be papers used to fulfill a school assignment) * a final report is required, an overview of what was experienced and its impact on the recipient’s development. * funding - proceeds from the Margaret Putnam Tribute Gala held in January 2011
